Show-Stopping Stone Splash

Before

Before

The backsplash in our upstairs kitchenette has been neglected for many years.  As a space outside of our showroom, it fell a bit low on our list of priorities when it came to where we wanted to spend our time.  This has changed recently…

We mostly use the kitchenette and adjoining room for company meetings and training sessions, so the backsplash needed to be impressive and well done, as those who would critique it most harshly would be the main ones seeing it.  We also wanted it to be classic and timeless, so it would still work well many years down the road.

Our showroom designer came up with three different options: Option 1- with a matte ceramic subway tile and a matte dimensional glass accent, Option 2- a small stone and glass mosaic, and Option 3- an elaborate blend of small stone mosaics with a small onyx tile.  Option 3 was the winner.

The task of installation went to Dave, our Training and Development Manager, and Ricky, a soft goods installer with the company.  Even with this being Ricky’s first backsplash installation, the team took on the unique challenges of this backsplash wonderfully!  One of the toughest challenges here involved the "sink panel" being installed on a bias.  The onyx stones are also quite difficult to cut due to their soft nature.  After a few days of installation from our two skilled installers, our kitchenette is bare no more!
